Grapes can’t be found on the vine and figs are no longer on the trees. Harvesters come back empty handed and the deep wells only bring up hot sand. Great wealth and rich treasure no longer buy food enough to fill the belly and though the weary long to sleep, they cannot find rest. You sought me with all your heart and you found me. You looked hard for my way and you discovered it. You chose to walk through the gate and onto this narrow path and you set your face like flint, determined to follow me. Because you love me, I will bless you. Because you worship me alone, you will bear much fruit. You will reap a bountiful harvest and drink cool, clear water from streams that won’t run dry. Though you don’t have wealth or hidden treasure, you will never go hungry and when you lay your head down to sleep, you will find rest. I am your God and I am holding you. I love you with an everlasting love and I will make sure you have all you need. Walk with me. This is the way of the flourishing, the path of abundant living.
